Sherwin-Williams January Color of the Month

January always holds a little extra calm for me.  It’s like a deep breath – after the holidays, after the family gatherings, after the cleanup.  A lot of good has happened, and now there’s a fresh clean year in front of you. And you finally sit and relax and think about that.

How’s it looking from where you’re sitting now?

Color is my thing, so I think it’s important – but I’m not the only one, because even psychologically, color changes your mood and your view.  January is the perfect time to freshen up your walls inside — and if you’re wondering what color will go with that restful feeling and the cup of cocoa in your hand, Sherwin Williams might have an answer.

They just released their Color of the Month for January: SW6039 Poised Taupe. They liked it so much it’s also the Color of the Year. I hope I can describe my 2017 as “poised,” but regardless, it’s definitely a good description of this earthy, cool tone taupe. It’s got enough purple undertones to give it a classy look that pairs well with silver, but it keeps enough warmth to bring out wood tones and sunshine.

Taupe does vary in tone depending on the light, so if you’re loving this color but aren’t sure what it would look like in your space, give me a call!  Maybe painting isn’t your thing – that’s ok. We’re here to make your life easier, and still give you the paint makeover you’ve been dreaming of.

2017 is looking poised and classy already.

Love,

Katie

This is not a Blog PT.1 – Let It Rain SW9152

Anastasia slipped. Everything was slicked with rain, from the slate path to the hair slapping the side of her face. Her fingers looked pale against the gray rock, then pink where she caught hold of it to steady herself.  Warm and cold, and the fierceness of it made her imagination run wild. The clouds clung to the edge of the sky, turning the sea all gray and foam. They crashed like laughter against the shore and she thought of her grandfather’s bushy white eyebrows, crinkling over his smiling eyes.  The blue gray of a bird shot out of the brush beside her. The quick thrum of wings, the sound of her grandfather’s laugh, the clouds on the horizon… Gray coming alive on the edge of her world.  “Let it rain,” she thought.

She rushed home, not wanting to lose it.  The door swung wide and she left it open, clutching her palette like the rain would try to take it from her – she had to create this exact color: a mix of the storm and the sea and her grandfather’s eyes.  She wanted to remember.

You can find Let It Rain SW9152 at Anastasia’s magical cabin… or by calling me at Buckeye House Painting.

Much love,

Katie

New Year, New Paint, and the Living Room You Always Wanted

We love the New Year because it feels like a fresh start. At the same time, you can’t suddenly redo, restart, and freshen up everything in your life at once. We get that.

You know what else we get? Paint. Type, color, style – you name it. This is what we do. Soif you’ve been feeling a little stuck staring at the same walls, or you just got that new furniture piece you’ve been wanting and you need a new color to match – you don’t have to drop your workout regimen, your schedule, or your weekend plans. You don’t have to buy tape and brushes and cleaners and dig for old sheets. And you don’t have to wonder if it will ever get done.

All you have to do is call us.

Color matching doesn’t have to take 14.5 hours standing in Home Depot with your kids. We can do it in your living room, and make sure it’s exactly what you want. And if you’re a detail person, don’t worry – we always make sure our work is done well, and we can guarantee you’ll be far more pleased than if you re-positioned that tape for the hundredth time.

You get the weekend off, and you still get that new house feel.

Best New Year’s resolution EVER.
